So what about you?

Do you ever feel like you come here and it's just Patrick and Lindsay going on about themselves and how they think they're all cool and stuff? Well, now it's your turn. Probably the coolest thing about us is that we have wicked cool friends and family. And lately, we've had some really cool strangers pop in here as well, so we would like to hear from you, too...or two. (Not a lot of strangers... get it?)

So, I really wanted to come up with a question that would help us all get to know each other and let us feel comfortable commenting and looking at each others blogs or myspaces or online photographic portfolios. I scoured the internet (and by "scoured," I mean I googled "questions to get to know someone") and this is what I came up with:

'What is your favorite letter?'

Lindsay is in the bath right now reading something of importance; let's ask her first.

"Hey, babe?"

"Yeah?"

"What's your favorite letter?"

Without hardly a pause (do I ask her lots of random questions while she's bathing? Perhaps.):

"'L' of course."

"Why?"

"Llllindsay Lllivingston... What's your favorite letter?"

I'm gonna have to say that my favorite letter really is 'P'; I know, right? Kind of a let down. But I have a real memory of walking around my backyard when I was in elementary school thinking that 'P' wasn't a very good letter, I mean, come on...'P'...'Pee!' It's the only letter that is a word of something that comes out of you. Unless, I suppose, a Bee flew in your mouth and then you opened your mouth and let it fly back out. Or if you shoved a pea up your nose and then blew real hard and shot it out again...but even then, which is worse: 'Pee' or 'Nose Pea'?

But then I started thinking that not a lot of things start with 'P' and that kinda makes those of us that do sorta special. That day I adopted Penguins as my favorite animal because probably some elementary-aged penguin was walking around thinking that nothing really cool started with 'P' and so he probably knew how I was feeling. And maybe he picked 'Patricks' as his favorite animal, cause we both, you know, got it.

And so, on to you, gentle reader. Which letter is it? Let us all know.

AND!! As an extra incentive to really think about your answer (or to not think but a least comment) Lindsay and I will randomly pick (I'm sure a hat will be involved) one posted comment and send the winner ONE LETTER MUG with the subject of their comment right on the front it. We have our LETTER MUGS (Pictured above) and we love them. So good luck and go forth.

The winner will be chosen Friday Evening at 8:00 pm Eastern Standard Time.

I made a vow that I was going to start posting comments on your blog because you are always so kind and lovely to post comments on my blog, and now it is going to look like I am only posting a comment because I want a free mug. And that's not why...I mean, I think you should choose me, because I posted first and whatever, but really, whatever. Did you guys see Enchanted? It was pretty good. I saw if for free in the bar/movie theater of the haunted hotel I am staying in in Central Oregon tonight. It was formerly a school. Creepy, right? Wait, what were we talking about?

Oh, yeah.

J. Sorry. It's so cliche.

I would have to say that mine is 'A' and not entirely because that is what my name starts with. In fact for a while I didn't like my name. I mean I like it because it is easy and short and not many people screw up spelling it. What I didn't like was that I didn't think any employer would take someone with the name "Amy" seriously. I always thought they would look at my resume and think "someone with the name 'Amy' could not be very intelligent, she will not make a good accountant." I always thought I would have better luck if my name was Christine or Karen or Deborah. Well luckily I found that is not the case.

But 'A' is my favorite letter because I have found that I am addicted to it. Yes that's right...addicted. For instance, I will have a heart attack if I don't get A's in school. Even if it kills me, I must get an A (or A-). I chose to be an Accountant. Some of my favorite words start with 'A'. For instance, Astonishing, Atonement, and Anality. I love pirates, and what do pirates say..."Aaargh". It is the first letter in the alphabet and thus gets a lot of attention, and I love being in the spotlight so I can relate to the letter 'A'.

And that is why 'A' is my favorite letter.

So I think I'd have to choose L. And so what if I'm writing because I really want the mug???
I have a sister name Lauren and she used to write her L's in cursive - the L was always larger and more swoopy/curvy than the rest of her name and I always loathed the M that began my own dreadful name. The only highlight of Mallory was the fact that I had two swooping L's in the middle of it. Not to mention the 13 letter tornado of a last name - I had nothing to live for as far as letters go.
I consider myself truly blessed to have found such a handsome man that is a Lllllivingston...maybe the L is all I married him for? Maybe not. Maybe it doesn't matter because I now get to write a large swoopy L every time I sign my name.

I was just reading a study recently about how people tend to like things that begin with the same letter as their first name (i.e. Lindsays like lollipops and lavender), and it even influences our buying behavior, so that we may choose products that begin with our 'favorite letter' over other brands. :)

My favorite letter is one that I got from my high school boyfriend in 10th grade - does that count? ;-)

As for alphabets, I've always been more of a punctuation person and the ampersand is my fave: &

It's no wonder peoples favorite letters are usually associated with their names. We battle for years to feel good about ourselves, overcoming serious issues of inadequacy and self loathing. In elementary school, children can be poetic prodigies with their deft use of alliteration and rhyme, and no child escapes the jingle or two with their name being associated (rhyming or otherwise) with some fecal reference. I feel fairly unlucky as my last name starts with a Q, which can be "jingle-mated" with q,c and k words. Along with granting me a formidable literary education, my younger years were also accompanied by a severe self esteem issue. But, after all this time, I must say I have arrived at the other end of the juvenile gauntlet stronger and with a healthier sense of myself. That, if not making me fall in love with my name, certainly helped me come to grips with it. It wasn't until years later that I realized how uncommon the letter Q, and names that began with the letter, actually were.
In my home town of Heber City, Utah there were a total of two Q names in the phone book, the Quincy's and the Quinn's. In every one of my classes, from 1st grade to 12th, role went much like this; "Pierce.....Here! Probst......Here! Proctor.......Here! Quinn.......Here! Rhasband......Here. Rodriguez......Here!. As cheesy as it sounds, that little thing made me feel very special.
So, Q would have to be my favorite letter. Not because I love the way it sounds, or because it starts my favorite words, but because it represents my favorite people.

Wow, people are waxing pretty poetic with this whole letter thing. Since I am currently not feeling the inclination to be long-winded with flowery language which I so often love to do (ask my college English professors who often gave me A's despite the fact that most of my papers had no real point except to go on and on about abstract ideas laced with beautiful language, ha! I fooled them!), I am going to keep it pretty simple here.
My favorite letter is A, not because of the letter really but what it represents: A common thread between me and my beloved boys: David, Stacy, Ashton and Zander. Such different names but all harboring the classic vowel.
P.S., Please see response to your last post in the comment section of my blog attacking my lemonade purchasing skills :)

B. For oh so many reasons. If I was REALLY an Orlando nerd, I would have said D. But I'm not. Fun contest!

I love G. Not capital G but little g. My maiden name (yet another name reference) is Maughan and very lovely to write I might add. I love typography and g can be quite versatile when writing it. It really makes a word either elegant or normal. So here's to g, and big G can be cool to, but I just haven't figured out how to make it beautiful in my handwriting yet.

Y
I hear it more than any other letter in a day from Miranda. I will miss it when it fades back with the other letters after she's figured out I don't know everything.

First of all, you have a very fun blog to read! Thank you for that... Secondly I've taken a pole around my house - it's a small pole because there is only me and my kids at the moment and one of them doesn't talk or know his letters, but we decided that we like the letter 'E' the very best. "It's fun to write, it's liney and you could put it on your tummy if you were a super hero named Ethan"(as said from a 5 year old named Ethan!)' I do agree that it is a fun letter to write.

First, I want to say. . .can you make my books look like that? All pretty, with the mugs and stuff? Oh, and can you get me some nice-looking hard-bound limited-edition/antique/old bookstore books while you're at it, instead of my mass market paperbacks? Thanks.

I'm not sure what my favorite letter is, but I know what my favorite letter ISN'T. . .and that is J. . .because I have a Jonah and Josh. . .and my brother's name is Jayson, and everytime I call for one of my kids, I do that thing your mom always did where they go through the list of names, "Josh. . .no, Jonah, no. .Noel!" even though I only have two kids and Josh is my husband and much taller than my sons. And then I have to admit, for the 30th time that day, that I'm so much like my mom. . .and then I have to cry.

I'll pick B. . .for Bingham. And Books. Man, those are pretty.

i never liked the letter "p" either, patrick. this goes all the way back to elementary school, being "emily p." yeah, easy joke for little kids. i did always like "e," but only lower case "e." i don't like upper case "e" and especially don't like cursive "e." generally speaking, i don't like upper case at all, and usually type in all lower case.

anyway, in response to your question, my favorite letter is "c." i inherited a great new initial with marriage and have been happy to be "emily c." for the last year and a half. so there it is, go "c!"

"C" but only because I already have a mug with an "M" on it and would like to complete the set.

Good to hear you guys are well. Love the blog.

I'm gonna have to go with 'L'. Not necessarily because its my name (really, my name starts with E), but because when i was learning cursive I loved making the capital 'Ls'. They were so pretty.

In elementary school I could not pronounce the letter "r". Because my name is Jennife"r" this was a problem. I battled in speech therapy for years until one day it hit me. I needed to press my tongue up to the roof of my mouth to get the desired sound. T"r"iumph! Finally! I could say the letter "r"! So, this is my favorite letter. Besides, always on the wheel of fortune, people always shout on the letter "r" first when trying to solve the puzzle. It must be a popular letter.
